What: Kalamazoo Block Parties is a series of events that are designed to connect Community Police Officers with youth in the neighborhood. The events last from 2 - 4 p.m., with the exception of the Halloween event on October 29 that will including an evening "monster" truck treating event. The remaining event that needs volunteers is Thursday, August 25.
There are so many different opportunities to volunteer and the events are too many to list on this page. Here are just a few: Skeletour (October 6-31), Shop Local Events (November and December), Santa's Workshop (December). Volunteer shifts are event days and the opportunities are dependent on the event. But, primarily it is greeting people, directing participants, and delivering supplies.
This is the biggest single event in downtown Kalamazoo and it's a tradition. Hosted the Saturday before Thanksgiving, this event needs volunteers to carry balloons, manage the staging areas, collect food donations, and distribute information.
